Virtual Wound Healing™ is an on-line multimedia resource that allows a participatory display of medical educational material on all aspects of prevention, diagnosis and healing of acute and chronic wounds by authors from anywhere in the world. The material will be relevant to all caregivers including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, foot care assistants, lay medical educators, e.g., diabetes educators, as well as clinic and hospital administrators in both the governmental (public) and private sector. This platform will also develop links to other websites with related content as well as to wound prevention and healing programs, both domestically and internationally
Authors can submit text articles, video presentations, PowerPoint presentations with captions, and PowerPoint presentations embedded in a webcast format with the ability to include video with the PowerPoint webcasts.* Educational material will be accepted in any language and will be indexed accordingly. Viewers can register, log in and then access individual files after completing a PayPal™ application.
Individuals, organizations and institutions will have equal access to submitting material that will be reviewed for website conformity in terms of topic, file types, length and quality. If a document is accepted for publication, a contract will be sent to the author, which will include revenue-sharing details as well as time limits for posting the file. When the contract period is nearing its end, the material will be reviewed regarding the requirements for continued availability on the VWH site. The central consideration for continued availability of the product will be its current validity in relation to current wound healing science and guidelines at the time of the review.
We hope that this resource will encourage a more seamless dissemination of educational material on the science of wound prevention and healing as well as encouraging a dialogue about individual wound types, treatment protocols and research models within the international wound caregiver community.
